Deborah F. Maury
Deborah Maury, now retired, was an attorney at law and a board-certified Social Security specialist. She attended the University of Delaware, graduating magna cum laude in 1972. She graduated from The University of Maryland School of Law in 1975. She was admitted to the bars of North Carolina and Maryland, having practiced in North Carolina since 1982. She was admitted to practice before the United States Court, Middle District of North Carolina, Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit, and North Carolina state bars.
Beginning in the mid-1980s, Deborah maintained a private practice emphasizing Social Security Disability law. She represented claimants at all administrative levels and in the federal court system. She was a charter member of the North Carolina State Bar Social Security Specialization Section and was the Chairman of the Appeals Committee in 2007. She was also a former Membership Director of the Social Security Section of the Academy of Trial Lawyers (now NCAJ). She has given presentations on topics related to Social Security law to various legal and nonlegal groups throughout her time in practice.
Karen Brod began her practice of disability law in 2003 and then joined the firm to continue that practice of disability law in 2008. In 2013, The Law Offices of Deborah F. Maury changed its name to Brod & Maury, PLLC, to include a new partner, Karen Brod. Then in 2017, the firm changed names again to Brod Disability Law with the retirement of Deborah Maury.
